Who writes Homeware Edit, how we choose what to cover, and how we handle recommendations and affiliate links.
Homeware Edit is a small editorial site about the practical side of keeping a home and a garden. We write for people who have a real room with real constraints — a rental kitchen with two feet of counter space, a north-facing balcony, a closet that has to hold two seasons of clothing — and who want advice that survives contact with daily life.
Our work falls into six areas: decorating decisions, kitchens and dining, gardens and outdoor spaces, organization and storage, cleaning and care, and buying guides. The common thread is usefulness. We are less interested in a trend than in whether a choice still makes sense eighteen months later, after the paint has been wiped down a hundred times and the sofa has been sat on by a household.
Every article starts with a question we can answer concretely. What is the minimum comfortable walkway around a coffee table? Which wood finishes tolerate a wet glass? How much soil does a balcony planter actually need? We answer with dimensions, materials, and maintenance intervals rather than adjectives.
We research from manufacturer specifications, published testing from standards bodies and Consumer Reports-style labs, retailer documentation, and our own experience of living with the same categories of objects. When we have not handled a product ourselves, we say so and describe what the published specifications do and do not tell you. We do not invent measurements, prices, review counts, or test results, and we do not claim to have performed lab tests we have not performed.
Recommendations are written as scenarios rather than rankings: the best choice for a small dark bedroom is not the best choice for a family room with a dog. Where a rating would be misleading, we use a plain verdict and an explicit trade-off instead.
Homeware Edit is reader-supported. Some links to retailers are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy through them, at no additional cost to you. Those links never determine what we cover, and a product does not become a recommendation because a commission is available. Our full Affiliate Disclosure explains the arrangement, and our Privacy Policy explains what data the site collects.
Products change, prices move, and specifications are revised. If something in an article is out of date or wrong, write to hello@homewareedit.com with the URL and the detail in question. We date our articles and update them when the underlying facts change.
Editorial, corrections, and partnership questions all go to hello@homewareedit.com. We read everything and usually reply within two business days. More detail is on the contact page.
